Robots has been improved to provide assistance to humans. With the revolution of science triggering the evolution in more spheres, people commence to consider objectively the value of AI technology and the world’s inclusiveness to it. The suspicion that robots might substitute our identities and social positions becomes an inevitable topic.
The majority of the public receive the information through the mass media. Nevertheless, they fail to access the accurate details of AI because most of the media are not professionals in this field. The current artificial production is invented for the primary target of helping to complete tasks exceeding people’s ability. They behave as an instrument which furnish us with support instead of replacing us. The lack of consciousness within the contemporary artificial objects, a prerequisite of autonomous perception and cogitation, impedes the progress of transforming them into humans. Being similar to the event of cars substituting carriages, the phenomenon that robots take over some of our jobs acts as a reflection of the revolution of emancipating ourselves from the monotonous and burdensome work and proceeding to more challenged exploration. Therefore, AI technology assists the society to make progression.
In the book “Out of Control”of Kevin Kelly, the complexity of the composition of an airplane and a cucumber is compared. Imagining the flinty outer case and the engine of numerous elaborate gears and metallic pipes, people approve that the construction of a plane requires complex operations. However, the section of a cucumber under the microscope astonishes us with thousands of cells sustaining its life, which are a present of nature. Retrospecting the history of human being, scientists has endeavored to create an entirely artificial life but has not achieved the goal. The miraculous nature is still a mystery beyond the capacity of our excavation. And as a natural creature, we possess a distinguishing feature that prevents the robots replacing us — life, which we are supposed to appreciate and treasure.
It is believe that there are some disadvantages existing in this artificial accomplishment, one of which is the difficulty interacting with real person. Individuals obtain the information, make analysis by relating it with the context, background and ambiance and respond appropriately. The whole procedure requires precise logical framework and flexible application of function, which is apparently an uneasy job for the researchers to figure out the method to support the intelligent communication between robots and humans. The consequence leaded by this condition is that people reveal a preference for cooperating and exchanging ideas and perspectives with those who are of the same species as them. The situation performs as an evidence for people outstripping robotic creatures in some extent, and moreover reflects a challenge on the way of the development of science and technology which expecting more attempt and experiments.
In conclusion, robots are tools assisting us for the achievement of a better life. The deficiency of their perception and living feature make it difficult to become a person. And the defects of them illustrates that our effort on the improvement of them is demanded. Rather than showing anxiety about considering whether the robots will replace human, the action of preparing ourselves for the tendency that AI integrates gradually into our life is a decision with wisdom.
